One Kid, Two Kids, Three Kids and Four....

Kidding season is well under way here at the farm. It is always a joy to get to this point in the year, to see the hard work of the previous year culminating in little ones bouncing around the farm.
This winter in Western New York was a particularly cold and long one. We went through a lot of hay, bedding, and hot water keeping our animals sheltered from the cold.

As we began milking again this morning on the farm I was reminded again of all that goes into getting to this point. It isn't just about that one morning, that one moment of milking. It's about the animal husbandry that gets you to that point. It is about spending time with your animals, knowing in a moment if something doesn't quite seem right. Being in tune with their needs. Everything from their enclosures to the warm water they receive (they definitely prefer warm/hot water), to the minerals, to the grain. Everything builds up to this point. Having a happy healthy herd, happy healthy goat kids, and some deliciously rich milk.

This time of year is definitely a good time on the farm. We've made it through the cold, we are making it through the mud. The sun is shining again! The grass is growing! The milk is flowing and the goat kids are bouncing..... and side hopping, and generally being goat kiddy!
The farmers' markets will start up again in just a couple of months, and we look forward to seeing many new and familiar faces as we embark on another season. We are working toward a couple of new product lines which we look forward to introducing to you over the next couple of months.

As we spring into this new season and new product lines, we encourage you to join us on this journey. We enjoy being able to share the baby goat antics with you as they hop, skip, and jump their way into our hearts and the hearts of many others.
Here's to all that spring and summer will bring. We look forward to seeing you out and about. Keep checking in with us for more kid antics.
